Fused Deposition modelling or FDM (often referred to as fused filament fabrication or FFF) is the most widely available and commonly used form of 3D printing. Just one of many additive manufacturing technologies, FDM is a process in which a physical object is built using an STL file created within a computer-aided design (CAD) programme. FDM is the quickest and cheapest of all 3 of our 3D printing services.
The FDM printer creates a 3D model by heating the chosen material to around 200 degrees celsius and extruding layers of thermoplastic filament through a print head onto the build platform until the desired object is formed.
Production runs – FDM 3D Printers offer a cost-effective solution for low volume batch runs and one-off projects, as well as larger production runs. FDM can be up to 75% cheaper than other, more intricate 3D printing methods.
Rapid prototyping – Our advanced FDM technology speeds up your manufacturing process by creating accurate prototypes and fully functional parts quickly. Usually within 48 hours but we can do same/next day in certain circumstances.
Design Verification & Validation – Using state of the art 3D printing technologies, FDM allows you to showcase your parts in all their functional glory. Our affordable FDM services offer cost-effective mock-ups and validation of your designs.
Whatever your specification, 3D Folkes are on hand to guide you through every step of the FDM process; for further information please call 0114 2211 862. For a free, no-obligation quote, please head over to our quote page or email us at email@example.com and we will be happy to help.
